I’ve always enjoyed the smell of essential oils, but I never could get myself to spend money on it. Every now and again I would put an oil on a birthday or Christmas gift wish list, but I had no knowledge of the quality of oils.
I will never forget seeing my sister for the first time in quite a long while. She was ill and had lost a lot of weight, that while being pregnant. She had started using essential oils and shared a little bit about how it had made a difference in her health journey. Of course, that got me very interested. A few months later, she gave me a bottle or two of some of the oils she had. Sadly, I didn’t really use it because I didn’t exactly know how.
Christmas arrived and she gifted me five roller bottles. Not only was it beautiful, but it was exactly what I needed. The various blends she made for me was spot on! Because it was so easy to use, I used it every day – sometimes multiple times a day. I noticed a significant difference in areas of life I used to struggle with, especially sleep and anxiety. She also gifted my boys with playdough which she made using dōTERRA essential oils. I have very lively boys, but when they played with their playdough, two hours would go by that they played quietly and engaged and peacefully. That’s the honest truth. It was simply unbelievable.
We were in a season of constant change and there was a lot of uncertainty in our future. I struggled emotionally and was seriously considering going back onto medication. My boys also struggled, especially our son who has some sensory processing difficulties and who was now in a place where he wasn’t receiving any therapy.
My husband and I were desperate and had to weigh up our options. The oils seemed to be worth giving a valid try – especially as it was a natural solution. But, it was really pricey. We decided to take the plunge and give it a go. I enrolled and bought my first few bottles of dōTERRA essential oils together with a diffuser.
Since then, we have never looked back. In fact, we look forward every month to our new oils arriving! As a family, we’ve realised that it’s too an important contribution to our health and lifestyle for it not to be in our budget.
